“Free Marketing” by Jim Cockrum
I have just finished reading a brand new book and I am so excited to review it for you!
Jim Cockrum’s new book “Free Marketing“ is based on the idea that the internet makes it possible for people to share their message much more effectively than they ever could do before and they can do it in a very budget friendly (and often free) way.
If you are thinking that this book isn’t for you because you don’t have a ‘real’ business – maybe you just have a part time eBay biz (as I did when I first got started online) please note this isn’t simply a marketing manual for real world business owners but a collection of ideas and strategies that anybody can use to reach and connect with others.
Jim reveals the story about how his own online business got started on eBay and eBay remains as relevant today as it was over a decade ago.
We all know Jim Cockrum as a genuine and trustworthy business person who has achieved success by using the internet in creative ways to build his reputation and spread his message and in “Free Marketing“ Jim brings together those very same tried and tested ideas that have enabled him to become financially self sufficient.
This is a big book running to 350 pages and I’m not one for sitting down to read a “proper book” (one you can get hold of!) because I have quite a short attention span (and 4 noisy children!) so I usually find it a bit of a chore.
“Free Marketing“ is so well written with each idea flowing smoothly into the next that it never felt like a chore at all in fact Jim’s gift for enthusing his reader had me gobbling up each idea and eagerly looking forward to the next, I really didn’t want to put it down!
The book is broken into 3 major sections.
The first 32 chapters will help you get found online and establish or protect your reputation. Jim discusses the new habits and rules that we all must embrace in order to thrive in an economy built on instant virtual relationships and the limitless free flow of information.
The middle of the book – chapters 33 to 77 is all about building trust and growing your circle of influence and Jim talks about how the most successful and influential people among us are those who are creating the best content for their audience to consume.
The third section – chapter 78 to 101 (yes, there really are 101 chapters in the book, actually Jim over delivers as you’d expect and there are 102!!) covers the foundation skills that will keep you relevant, interesting and potent no matter what the future holds.
There is a liberal sprinkling of real life examples of people who have taken Jim’s advice and used it to grow successful businesses (these “nuggets of inspiration” are my favorite bits!)
People like Chris Vallone who used eBay and YouTube to grow his Volkswagen bug customization business and now has an 18 month waiting list for his services!
I have watched Jim grow his own circle of influence (and his income) over the past several years by doing these very things and now all of these ideas are explained and presented in one package for us all to share.
If you only buy one “real” book this year make sure it is “Free Marketing“ from Jim Cockrum not because all of Jim’s profits go to charity but because you will get huge value in return for your tiny investment.
(Jim is donating 100% of his share of the book proceeds to a charity that supports inner city youngsters by teaching them how to use the internet to earn a living and I too will be donating 100% of my affiliate commission from the sales made through my link.)
