  1. Hi Stuart,

I probably should’ve posted this for video #1 but I read an article that Jim Cockrum wrote awhile ago about how to test the marketability of an ebook, let me know what you think.

What the article stated was to set up an ebay auction with sales copy that sells your ebook before you write it, run the auction for the maximum 10 days and whoever is high bidder offer the book to them for free explaining to them that it’s not finished yet OR you have the option of ending the auction early. I know that you are not allowed to sell ebooks on ebay anymore but you could give the impression in your auction that it’s a physical book instead to keep ebay off your back.

According to Jim, if your auction gets no bids or very small bids, you should forget about writing an ebook on that particular subject and move on to the next. I think this is very sound advice from Jim especially if your idea/subject isn’t covered by any of the ebooks on Clickbank; which by the way, I have come across several infoproducts doing well on ebay but that have not been on Clickbank. Also, running an auction can tell you what to price your ebook at because the bidding will tell you what people on average are willing to pay; plus, you can ask for feedback from the person who gets the ebook for free and anyone else you may give the ebook to for free, i.e., the other bidders.

  2. Hi Brittany

    Thanks for your comment.
I did in fact try to sell my own debut eBook http://www.printsmakeprofits.com on eBay to try to gauge demand, I also ran a 30 day eBay Classified ad, I received no interest or sales whatsoever (as I tried this after the digital download ban I described the item as a printed book)I could have concluded that my subject matter was of no interest but luckily for me, I didn’t do this, and my eBook is now selling very well on ClickBank.
I draw two conclusions from this: 1 The eBay market place is huge but we shouldn’t assume we can’t sell a product elsewhere just because it won’t sell on eBay. 2 eBay’s many rules and restrictions can distort the results of marketing tests like these.
Thanks again for taking the time to comment, it is a great encouragement to know other people are reading my blog.

    Kind regards

    Stuart

  3. HI, I STARTED OUT USING 1AND1 US AND HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THEM AND AM TAKING MY BUSINESS TO ANOTHER HOSTING COMPANY. I PURCHASED JOHN THORNHILL 1ST EBOOK PACKAGE AND UPLOADED IT TO 1AND1…AND BELIEVE IT OR NOT THEY LOST THE ENTIRE WEBSITE AND COULDN’T FIND IT. SINCE I WAS NOT SMART ENOUGH (OR NEED HOW) TO BACK IT UP I LOST MY ENTIRE WEBSITE AND 1AND1 WOULD DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. I FOUND THERE TECH SUPPORT VERY POOR AND TRYING TO TALK TO THERE BILLING DEPT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE. I WOULD TELL ALL MY FRIENDS TO STAY AWAY FROM THEM. JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW OF MY EXPERIENCE WITH THEM. I JUST FOUND YOUR BLOG AND AM ENJOYING IT. I TRIED READING YOUR #3 VIDEO AND IT DIDN’T WORK. I SEND YOU AN EMAIL TO THAT EFFECT.

  4. Hi Bill

    Many thanks for your comment.
I recommend domain purchase only from 1&1. I will be recommending a different company for your hosting needs later in my video series. The support I have received from this hosting company has been nothing short of amazing! they regularly reply to new support tickets within minutes, I really don’t know how they do it. I have also negotiated a 10% discount off their hosting package fees EXCLUSIVELY! for my subscribers.

Please see my separate reply to your comment about video 3.

    Kind regards

    Stuart
