We need your ‘make money online’ ideas!

I started making money online back in 2004, at first it was very much a part time, done in the evenings and at weekends kind of enterprise fitted in around my day job.

Things stepped up a gear in 2008 when I learned how to create and sell information products and now I make all of my income online.

The steps that lead me to success are;

1 Develop a money making idea that works

2 Teach others how to do it

3 Build an audience of like minded people

4 Help this audience to grow their own online income streams by testing and recommending new ideas

I know this sounds remarkably simple but when you break it down it really is and having done it successfully myself I am convinced that anybody else can do it too!

Step 1 for me was a simple little idea for making money using eBay and this provided me with a very welcome supplement to the money I earned in my day job.

It was step 2, however, that enabled me to earn enough money to make the day job superfluous and today I want to help you to follow in my footsteps.

  2. Yah for SIMPLE ideas that make money! eBay was my first huge success online, too. But you're right: simply making affiliate sales (or whatever your money making method is) is just the 1st step. Once you truly understand WHY your method is successful, you can distill the info and teach it to others for explosive profits.

    Sending encouragement to everyone with an idea… may you have initial success with it and then lots more as you share it with others.

    This industry is still technically a hobby for me, it is not exactly a profit yet. I often feel like I am working for nothing, or at least that is what my hubby thinks, especially right now with this challenge I created.He thinks my fingers are glued to the keyboard! 😳

    Hope everything is going well for you and I am sure you are going to go on to do even bigger and better things!!

    Your experience seems to have paid off.

    Pierrette & I have searched and researched a true way to end obesity and have taken three years to apply it and prove to ourselves it really works. Would an idea like this interest Jim or you?

    Their is a tremendous market and out method is simple and "New".

    I agree but I would change point 1 to :

    1 Develop a money making idea that works WITH PROOF

    This is where 99% of IMers will fail, they have no proof. They write an ebook about an internet marketing technique but their sales letter will let them down because it has no proof.

    Every sales letter should firstly be written before the product and secondly contain proof.

    The easiest way is for someone to create a product and makes sales in a niche other than IM, then use this proof and their own story to market to the IM niche.

    This is essentially what every person making a full time living in selling IM products has done.

    I have a problem with IM courses that recommend a newbie's first project should be in the IM niche because in most cases they can't provide proof – this is kind of putting the cart before the horse.

      You really must be successfully doing something before you can teach others. Unfortunately there are lots of marketers selling info products about techniques that they haven't used successfully themselves.

      Always look for the proof when you are choosing an expert to follow.

    Selling information products is one of the easiest and profitable ways of making money online. Unfortunately many people (including me) didn’t started trying to make money by following this way. And of course I neither started building my list. These were two of my biggest mistakes.

    The good thing is that there are not only 20 ways to make an income online but a lot more! The bad thing is that you cant try everything and give 100% effort. Doing this most newbies will suffer from information overload and feel frustrated.

    Once you find a way that worked for you, you can then make more money by showing to others. Unfortunately there are a lot of scams out there. There are people that will show you how to make 1 Million in a week without doing anything! Guaranteed! ARG! 🙁 When I was a newbie I fall in these "instant money" TRAPS many times! Be careful these scams exist today too!

    On the other hand an honest internet marketer will follow an idea that he believes it will make him money. It can be his or someone else idea. It doesn’t matter! Once he do it well and improve that idea, he can then enter the internet marketing niche and show to others how to make money too.

  20. I like the simplicity and clarity of what you have written. So much easier to read than some long winded posts I have not got to the end of! So often it's the simplest ideas that are the best. Now where is my thinking cap?

      I think the main benefit of the internet is the ability to get your ideas across to your audience quickly. People expect short, punchy blasts of information when they are online, they don't want to read a novel!

      Using video is a great way to add clarity to your ideas (just remember to keep them short!)

    I purchased your Best 20 Ways book as soon as it came out. As a matter of fact – I believe that I have purchased all of your eBooks. Everything you have produced is excellent and has helped me develop my business. I keep your books on hand and find myself referring to them time and again.

    As for coming up with new ways to make money… I'll have to think on that. It would be fun to come up with a winning solution after a long track record of ideas that went nowhere.

    I have to agree with you. Once you've learned how to do something, its relatively easy to teach others how to do it as a secondary stream of income (which will often become your primary source of income.

    I was a bit disheartened when you said teaching others was the step that enabled you to go full time. I'm like Susan, I don't want to teach others -it's too time consuming. But I am still looking for step 1. 😉

      My step 2 "teach others how to do it" could be one to one coaching or it could be simply writing an eBook.

      As you know writing an eBook requires an up front time investment but once completed it can be sold over and over to hundreds or even thousands of buyers without any further work by the creator (other than promotion of course!)

    Some great tips on developing your business online. I think many people only get to stage #1 and then end up at stage #3.

    They have all these great ideas but don't do anything with them. Then end on peoples list's and keep buying more and more products. They fall into the "prospect" bracket and not the marketer.

    This book you have teamed up with Jim on will hopefully give the idea makers a chance to the exposure they need. Very intersting.

    Good for you! Making money only from the internet. I wish I could say the same for myself. This is my dream to do this. I have a wife I married 2 years ago.She is from China and we want to buy a home there some day. Also I would like to have a home here in the United States and live in both places for 6 months. This is when I retire of course. She is thinking 10 years. (I am 53) I don't want to wait that long. I want to do it within 2 years by making my money on the internet exclusively.

    Your idea is a terrific one I think. To get ideas from others and create an ebook of those ideas. As far as the discount goes, who can't afford $13.97? I'm getting mine.

    Great advice and something which everyone venturing online can benefit from. And even though the make money online market is a huge and lucrative niche, and "teaching how to make money online" products are always going to sell well (especially with JV partners like you have) it is also worth pointing out that it is not the only business model out there.

    I find I'm more interested in the proven "set and forget" models at this stage, as only fully automated businesses truly allow the time I want to spend with my family. Teaching is labour intensive (unless it's on the evergreen membership video site approach now modelled by JT) and right now, I don't want to go there. Maybe when the kids leave home…LOL
