My Etsy shop has become a wonderfully reliable and FUN income generator!
I make sales every day and the 1,000 sale milestone is now firmly in my sights!
The best thing about my Etsy business is that it takes no more than a couple of hours work per week to keep it ticking over – I have achieved this by focusing on just a hand full of popular vintage print subjects.
After the initial set up work is done and the titles, images and descriptions have been created the only tasks that remain are to fulfill orders, renew the sold listings and replenish my inventory.
One of my most popular and long standing series of prints are taken from just one source book – this particular book contains 48 full page, vividly colored plates that I sell for $8.70 each.
I do not mat or frame these prints but simply trim off the rough edge (where it was removed from the book) pop it into a self seal cellophane bag to keep it pristine and then into a rigid envelope before shipping to my buyer.
Each copy of this book generates $417.60 in gross revenue before fees. (Etsy charge a 20c listing fee plus a 3.5% sales fee).
Today you have the opportunity to win a copy of this book!
One lucky reader will receive a copy of this book plus a supply of cellophane bags and rigid envelopes plus my detailed, fully illustrated 24 page guide on how to sell these particular prints for maximum profits.
I’m not finished yet!
I will throw in a copy of my best selling guide to setting up and marketing your own Etsy shop – Your Etsy Profit Machine! – this comprehensive yet newbie friendly course teaches everything you need to know in an easy to follow, step by step way.
I will also throw in FREE lifetime membership to the Prints Make Profits membership site where you will learn how to grow your business by discovering new, equally lucrative print niches.
In short, you will win everything you need to start and grow your very own, profitable Etsy and/or eBay business!
I’ll even cover the cost of shipping the bundle to anywhere in the world!
Count me in, Stuart! – What do I have to do?
To be in with a chance to win my business in a box bundle all you have to do is comment on this post – simply leave your question or comment in the box at the end of this post and you will be entered into the draw that will take place on Friday the 25th of March.

Great idea Stuart. I’ve been ‘with’ you since your eBay days and have followed your journey. I’m making small strides myself now with more inventory and activity. Not enough to supplement the income yet, but it’s encouraging. As a previous comment has said, you are great at always relying to questions and were kind enough to spend an hour on Skype with me once. Look forward to all your products whatever the outcome of the draw. ?

Thank you for making this available, Stuart! I reopened my Etsy shop (after a few years’ hiatus) in the fall of last year and must say, I’ve been pleasantly surprised, even with the few items I have up. My goal this year is to increase my offerings by double-listing a lot of my vintage items in my eBay store onto Etsy.

Stuart, how long does setting up everything for an Etsy shop take? I’m retreading Your Etsy Profit Machine because I read some of it and started setting up my shop a while back. I only listed two prints and abandoned the idea. This time I’m reading the entire book. I’m almost finished and just trying to get a general timeline. Thank you!

Hi Dee
The shop set up – uploading your header banner, writing your about page and policies, setting up Direct Checkout etc. can all be done relatively quickly – a couple of days perhaps.
The next step is listing your items and this is where a lot of people fall short – they list a handful of prints or whatever, make no sales then give up. My advice (if you are selling book prints) is to choose a popular subject, buy a cheap book and list every print in the book. When I started I put up about 20 prints initially and made my first couple of sales within 2 weeks – this early success is so important because it convinces you of the validity of the platform and gives you the motivation to list more.
The next step is to buy a few more books and list all the prints – you’ll find that buyers will buy 4, 5, 6 and more from a single book if you give them the opportunity. Keep going until you have at least 100 items listed (for me this is only the contents of 3 books).
At this level you will notice a real momentum building with Etsy’s on site social functions kicking in as more and more of your items get favorited and featured in treasury lists.
YEPM is very comprehensive and does include a lot of additional ways to market your shop but you don’t need to set all of this up before you start listing and selling (another common mistake) These additional techniques can be implemented gradually later.
Focus on the above and you won’t go far wrong!

Stuart,
Thank you for your reply! I will get started, stay focused, and not get bogged down.

What a great offer! I would love to win this! I’m a PMP member but haven’t been able to get started yet due to finding a new home and adapting it to be a full time caretaker to my newly disabled dad. I hope to be able to schedule some time to get up and running in the next month or so. . . this seems to be a perfect fit for this new chapter in my life. Thanks for all the terrific advice you share.

Hi Stuart,
Thank you soooo much for giving everyone the opportunity to get this AMAZING offer. Well come April 1st I will be getting rotator cuff surgery and will be laid up for quite some time. I’ve been running an eBay store since 2013 and have been considering etsy for a while now. I’ve been doing good as a eBay seller but now with the surgery it’s going to be pretty difficult to pack up large and heavy items to the local post office. With your system I can still provide for my family and I and not have to worry. Sorry for the long story but this is why I’d like to win your business.
Good luck to all and God bless.

Hi Stuart – thanks for this great opportunity.
My question, is how to be sure a book is Public Domain? Especially when browsing a book sale – any hints aside from checking the date of copyright? (Which won’t tell you if the copyright has been renewed.)
Bev
admin says
Remember that removing and selling the illustrations from books doesn’t breach copyright so you don’t have to source PD books for this.
That said, sourcing PD books does open up additional income streams.
A few tips:-
Anything published by the US government is automatically in the public domain. This alone can be a
treasure trove (think NASA, Library of Congress, all those government ‘how to’ info books, etc.).
Copyright is also considered expired for all works published in the United States before 1923.
Also if the author doesn’t renew the copyright, more recent books can be in the public domain.
One option is to do a check with the US Copyright Service ( http://www.copyright.gov/records/ ) and use
their searchable database. In a lot of cases, the copyright may have been passed on to someone
else as part of an inheritance, or it may have been sold to someone else. Using this database to search
is a good first step. Keep in mind that the original author may not be the person who renewed the copyright.
It may have been renewed by an heir, an estate, or a publisher, depending on whether or not the rights were
transferred.
A wonderful site for finding PD books is http://www.gutenberg.org where they maintain a large searchable
inventory of downloadable free PD books. Here is their FAQ page on copyright that you may find helpful.

OK! Stuart, if I may here, so far as my long years – since around 1996 – searching for uncomplicated yet employment-replacing online sales things that require just one individual to make a living with, I think you’re possibly the second one. I found you when I joined Jim Cockrum’s PAC and bought your Prints Make Profits immediately, it made such good sense!
Finally I’ve joined that with your Etsy Profit Machine and the two are making music in my little head together!
Also, Stuart, of all the people I’ve purchased courses from, you take the cake for responding to questions. I feel like I ask too many, but you kindly respond anyway.
My lady friend will get this if I’m the chosen one. She is brand new to the Internet, even though she has grandchildren. My goal with her is for for to see and find her own online success with her many craft, art and marketing skills offline.
Thank you!

What I like about Stuart is that he practices what he preaches, and you know that it must work if the person themselves are doing it. I suppose like Stuart says if you stick to what works, you will do well.

Great that you are having this contest…. I have been following you over 3 years. I purchased all of your item they are excellent. Because of you and your Etsy course is why I’m doing good. Other products never worked for me. I have only 62 sales, not as good as you but only been selling for a year. Like to win the prize but who does win will be lucky person. But they need to implement your teaching and they will succeed.
