My Etsy shop has become a wonderfully reliable and FUN income generator!
I make sales every day and the 1,000 sale milestone is now firmly in my sights!
The best thing about my Etsy business is that it takes no more than a couple of hours work per week to keep it ticking over – I have achieved this by focusing on just a hand full of popular vintage print subjects.
After the initial set up work is done and the titles, images and descriptions have been created the only tasks that remain are to fulfill orders, renew the sold listings and replenish my inventory.
One of my most popular and long standing series of prints are taken from just one source book – this particular book contains 48 full page, vividly colored plates that I sell for $8.70 each.
I do not mat or frame these prints but simply trim off the rough edge (where it was removed from the book) pop it into a self seal cellophane bag to keep it pristine and then into a rigid envelope before shipping to my buyer.
Each copy of this book generates $417.60 in gross revenue before fees. (Etsy charge a 20c listing fee plus a 3.5% sales fee).

Me and my 11 year old son have been for some time selling online collectable toys, prints and handmade items. Its helped my son to get an all important grounding in ecommerce which is the way forward for his future – I believe.
But everything we have done is through trial and error, eBay has its limitations (and high costs) so we have been trying to find somewhere else too try to establish a store. We have considered Esty, but is took us so long to get our heads around Ebay, we (well, I) have been reluctant to go elsewhere.

I wonder if the prints could be scanned than using sublimation printing printed on say 8×10 aluminum panels. Or perhaps 8×10 ceramic tile.

Prints are selling in the store to people shopping for accents – they want originals and are willing to pay for them. Thanks so much for sharing all your knowledge.
It’s always good to hear from you Stuart, especially since I specialize in paper, mostly vintage labels, but also almost anything with nice graphics on paper. This Spring I am going to start listing some of the prints I have accumulated over the years. I think all of us who work from home need a little encouragement from time to time, it’s so easy to just let down and allow other things to get in the way.

I have just taken apart my 5th great book. I’ve been making more and more money on Etsy as I learn and practice all that you preach and teach. I am so very grateful to you … for you. I am even making some money on some Facebook groups in specialty areas. I find old books relative to the FB groups’ interests, remove and trim the plates … and offer them to the groups in their BIN (Buy It Now) sales, or even put up for auction on auction sites. Thank you for your awesome sharings. This is one of the best retirement programs I could ever have invested in.

A Prints For Profits Etsy store sounds like a great way to put some joy back into running a business. Amazon is making me a little nuts and eBay is so labor intensive. The video tutorials make it easy to set up and it is definitely a direction I want to move in.
